The short version: Creator's Hearth participates in the Bookshop.org affiliate program and earns a commission on qualifying purchases. All book recommendations are chosen editorially — recommendations are not sold placements. Tool and resource links are also editorial. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be explicitly labeled as such.
Bookshop.org affiliate program
Creator's Hearth is an affiliate of Bookshop.org. When you click a link to a book on the Books for Writers page or in an article, and make a purchase, we earn a small commission. This comes at no additional cost to you — the price you pay is the same whether or not you click through an affiliate link.
Bookshop.org is a platform that supports independent bookstores; a portion of every purchase is distributed to indie booksellers across the country. We chose Bookshop.org as our affiliate partner for this reason, in addition to it being a competitive source for book purchases.
How book recommendations are chosen
Every book on this site is recommended because we believe it is genuinely useful for writers. The selection process is editorial: books are chosen based on their quality, relevance to the topic at hand, and how well they complement the rest of a given reading list. No publisher, author, or publicist has paid for a recommendation or a position on any list.
We do not accept payment for book placements, inclusion in reading lists, or mentions in articles. If this ever changes, the sponsored status will be clearly and prominently disclosed.
Tool and resource links
Articles in the Resources & Tools section evaluate writing software, physical tools, and other resources. Links to these products are editorial — we link to what we believe is useful or worth evaluating. We do not currently have affiliate arrangements with any of the writing software or tool companies mentioned on this site (Scrivener, iA Writer, etc.). If that changes, we will disclose it.
Google AdSense
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are selected by Google's systems based on context and, depending on your settings, prior browsing. Sponsored content
Creator's Hearth does not currently publish sponsored content. If we accept sponsored content in the future, it will be clearly identified with a "Sponsored" label at the top of the piece and will not influence editorial recommendations in non-sponsored content.
